Hi, I'm Penny. I lived as a stray puppy until I was 6 months old! Since I was homeless, I moved in with my friend, Dollar, he had a doghouse.  Many people were asked, but no one would claim me as their own.  People would occasionally give me food as I made my daily rounds. One day, someone called the ACO to come get me. I have a friend that got me out of the kill-shelter. Boy, I was Really glad to see her! She brought me to Leota Animal Rescue. I am growing up to be a very sweet gal. They say I am a pit-mix, I don't even know what that means, but I hope it's good. I want to be a good girl and I'm eager to please. My foster mom says I am a CHOCOLATE PIT, which makes me special. I love attention and I'm really affectionate. I like other dogs and kids and everyone who is nice to me. I don't like cats though, they're strange. I really hope to have a REAL home soon with people who love me & will make me part of the family, not just a backyard dog. Please consider me for your pet. We would have a great life together.
Notes from my foster mom: Penny complete a 6-week Obedience Training Class. She did very Great. Penny is a very sweet, wonderful gal. She is very affectionate & loving, the kind of dog you love more each day. She would rather be with people than other dogs. She gets along well with the other 4 dogs living here & learned, in just a few days, to do what they do: use the doggie door, get toys from the bowl, lay on the dog beds, bark at strangers. She's a great walking/jogging partner and she is smart. She loves toys. She's a very polite house guest and loves to snuggle.  She loves to be active, so she will need a home where she can get her daily exercise. She LOVES to hike & swim! She had a blast at her first campout! We were very surprised at how much she loves the water & what a good swimmer she is! She was great with a little 15 month-old boy that came to visit and seems to love children. She really loves people & wags all over when she gets attention.
She was very good with a recent house guest we had stay with us...a little Scottish terrier. She plays hard and would be best paired with a dog her size, or a larger dog. Her best pal in her foster home is an 80lb German Shepherd. Penny recently did her first Pet Therapy Visitations at a local nursing home. She was AMAZING! She loved everyone she met & brought out many smiles. She is a really great gal & will make a wonderful Good-will Ambassador for pit-mixes with her great personality.
